Sting vs The Undertaker - Why?

Point of ViewFew weeks ago we were witnesses to something most of us never thought would happen - The Undertaker finally lost at Wrestlemania, thus ending the streak that was alive for the last 21 years. Now, many of us still can believe that was the plan, that it was meant to happen like that and there is still a chance it wasn't. However we look at it though, however we try to twist and turn the possibilities, to justify it, it happened. We live in a world were something we all, as fans, had... something. The last bastion of kayfabe, the last strand of what was the "Glory days of professional wrestling". And yet, as a long time fan of wrestling, I am not sad, cause one thing ending is another possibility opening.

In recent time there was a lot information about Sting possibly joining the ranks of WWE superstars and personally I think there is no better opponent for him then The Dead Man himself. Now I know, there is a lot of people saying it is not needed, that is it too late, the none of them are in their prime, the match would be boring, wouldn't be interesting to watch... I know, I know, but the fact of the matter is I do want to see that.

We are talking about the two of the greatest performers in the history of our beloved sport. We are talking about the two legends who never shared a ring. I do not care how good the match would be, I do not care where it happens, I do not care when it happens. I just want to see it. History owes us this one, we deserve to see this story. It's more then just nostalgia, it's emotions, it's history, it's one in the lifetime opportunity. If it doesn't happen soon, we will never be able to see it, ever. And there will never be another pair so similar and yet so different. Of course I do have other arguments, but forgive me for being emotional.

With the streak gone, there is no more pressure on The Undertaker, we actually can see that happen now, well next year at Wrestlemania. They can train together for a year and give us something very memorable. Sting is known in the business as being very protective about his gimmick, about his career. He is one of the people that would never let anyone mistreat him. If the streak was still alive, Sting couldn't win it and for a very good reason. Undertaker was a household name for WWE for the past decades and Vince would never let someone who never worked for him beat something they created. Now there is no such problem. Win, lose or draw - preferably draw - this is the best moment for that match and most likely the last moment.

Now the question is how to do it. For me there is only one way of doing it, before anything will start to happen, they need to train together, for as long as possible. Everything has to be perfected, every move, every throw, every punch, every hold. I want to see another perfect match like Randy "Machoman" Savage vs Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3. I want to see a long build up, something that starts before Elimination Chamber and we all know there is enough material to do it. I want to see showcasing the careers of both, letting the younger fans know who Sting is and how much importance this match would carry. In my opinion, the match should be a last man standing match and end with both of them not getting up. That is the way those legends should end their in-ring careers, not by being defeated in a sub-par match, not by finishing their contracts. The end should be between the ropes, inside the ring, at the biggest stage of them all. The match should have grandeur, the match should be given as much time as needed, they should have every single thing they need given to them. Then, and only then, the little boy in my heart will be able to be at peace.
